It’s easy to have positive feelings of the area from where I live. New York’s Southern Tier is enveloped with rolling hills and ever-changing skies. The beauty of all four seasons has a continuity of change; a diverse cycle where light is felt and textures and colors are seen. My compositions are deeply rooted in these surroundings. The concept of nature inspires and structures the paintings.
Color is what I give voice to. Familiar landscapes and atmospheric abstractions are all part of my search as an oil painter. I do not feel locked in to having to paint a certain way. Exploration of themes, mediums and styles are part of my process. My work is both abstract and representational.
I was fortunate to have fifteen pieces chosen for permanent display at the new United Health Services, Wilson Main Tower in Johnson City, New York. The paintings were selected based on the idea that visual art can have a calming effect. I feel honored to be part of the philosophy that original art has a place in a medical setting and healing environment.
